The Bless Haiti Project

At SW we not only want to bless our city but show the grace, truth and love of Jesus to everyone. The recent earthquake in Haiti provides such an opportunity. Some members of our church have had close ties to Gersan and Betty Valcin and their ministry in Haiti for over 10 years. Gersan and Betty have survived the earthquake and they and their staff are fervently trying to minister to the many people that are suffering grief, loss and injury.
 
We have chosen to partner with them and their other supporters, many from churches right here in Austin, to help. 
 
Here are suggestions for prayer:
  • Pray for Gersan and Betty Valcin - missionaries and pastor.
  • Pray for the congregation of Evangelic Community Church (ECC) and their families.
  • Pray for continued food, water and medical aid.
  • Pray for the refugees staying at ECC and the "tent city" on their property.
  • Pray for the medical facilities on the ECC site and the people receiving care there.
  • Pray for the support of NGOs and charitable organizations, including government representatives from the Dominican Republic to continue to provide for these people.

We all are deeply moved by the recent earthquake in Haiti and the magnitude of loss. We are asking every member of our HCBC SW to pray for the people of Haiti that the grace, truth, and love of Jesus would be shown through our brothers and sisters in Christ there. We are also asking our members and regular attenders to pray about how you can give to help these efforts
